"Like you, I work hard every day - focused on growing my business helping people find work, caring for family and neighbors, and serving our community however I can. Like you, I know that living and working in Southeast Michigan is a blessing. I'm running to affirm this, and to be a true advocate in Lansing for all of us in the 10th District - for our families, our communities, and our way of life.
Every day, I meet more and more neighbors and voters in Detroit, Harper Woods, and The Pointes. If I've met you at your door, in your business, or just out-and-about, I've hopefully conveyed how my approach, my work, and my experience will make me an effective legislator next year. But I've also reminded you that no one we elect carries all the wisdom necessary to win all the fights for us. In my approach, the experience, wisdom, and ideas I'll need to tirelessly advocate for us will come from you.
And so, I hope you'll lend your voice to our campaign. I hope you'll call or email me to offer your ideas to improve programs and legislation we'll write together, because you are more knowledgeable, more invested, and know better than the special interests, lobbyists, and politicians in Lansing about how to improve our state.
Join us, and together we will transform Detroit, Harper Woods, and The Pointes, and build a stronger Michigan."

I am humbled to say I was on that stage in Chicago on Super Tuesday in 2008, when then Senator Obama quoted poet June Jordan, who penned this inspiring line many years earlier. We blink, and now, almost twenty years later, those words, I think, are a simple reminder of our responsibility today. It is time for us to answer the call once again - to do the hard work of democracy and community. We are committed to this work, and hope you'll join us in the coming months.
